01. Taiko 'Die Blechtrommel'
"'Die Blechtrommel' is absolutely chocka with old skool hardcore samples - however, Taiko updates the heavier techno riffs for a modern feel that's both intricate and minimal at the same time. The track weaves through diverse patches of noise and melody, from what sounds like water dripping from a tap, to whiplash techno and a mad Chinese-sounding melody over the top. Taiko is Oliver Huntemann, one of Germany's premiere league trance DJs, and Stephan Bodzin, who also makes music for Additive as Condor. Incentive are a diverse label and have just released the discotastic 'Saturday' by Joey Negro featuring Taka Boom.

02. Kamaya Painters 'Far From Over (Oliver Lieb Remix)'
As featured on this month's Turntable Challenge (see P120), the Oliver Lieb Remix is by far the best on the EP. The German trance king turns it into a full-on tribal, percussive journey through deep trance and an excellent follow up to 'Endless Wave', caned by the likes of Digweed, Oakenfold and Tong. Dutch outfit Kamaya Painters have enjoyed recent chart success with DJ Tiësto (alongside Ferry Corsten) with 'Gouryella' and Benno De Goeij on Rank 1's 'Airwave'. This one comes hot on the heels of other latest DATA releases from Storm ('Time To Burn') and Electrique Boutique ('Revelation').

03. Karin De Ponti 'Hypnobounce (Jasmin Mix)'
This mix of 'Hypnobounce' is brimming with bubbling techno stabs and a scatty type mini-vocal. It's been snapped up by DJs nationwide, but you now own it free, courtesy of Ministry, you lucky things! Karin is a female Italian DJ and this originally came out on BMX, Mauro Picotto's label and it's got his production style stomped all over it. Watch for more pants-wetting tunes coming up on Nukleuz, especially the new mixes of Praga Khan's classic 'Injected With A Poison', 'Gimme More' from DJ Gee Moore (he of Bora Bora DJ fame) and Lisa Pin-Up's 'Future Acid House'.

04. Spoiled & Zigo 'More & More (Flickman Remix)'
Spoiled & Zigo are from Israel, where the trance parties are a totally underground affair, because the authorities believe dance music is evil. Nevertheless, dedicated clubbers carry on regardless - and it's so precious to them, they party harder than most of us. This is a wildly energetic track made for peak time dancefloor action. If you want to know more about 'More & More', once again turn to our Turntable Challenge this month and check out Paul Masterson's opinion on the subject. After all, he's the man who knows his 'ard 'ouse, like.

05. Blue Amazon 'Breathe (Quake Remix)'
Blue Amazon are Lee Softley and James Reid, two sons of Huddersfield. Renowned for their live act, they are responsible for those gorgeous hits 'And Then The Rain Falls' and 'No Other Love', on Sony offshoot, S3. Right now, they're concentrating on developing themselves as artists. 'Breathe' is the first in a range of new tracks revealing a change in direction. Rather than aiming sqaurely for the dancefloor, BA have decided to go for a more adventurous feel, on a Chemical Brothers tip. Quake give 'Breathe' a good trancey-shafting to turn it into a piston-pumping shaker. Check out York's 'Farewell To The Moon', as well as Blue Amazon's album, due on Subversive soon.

06. The Mexican 'Different Perspectives'
'Different Perspectives' is intense trance with a purpose that combines tight programming and a driving bottom end, all building to an epic breakdown that is quite beautiful, conjuring up images of never-ending horizons of sea and sky. The Mexican is Guildford-based producer Richard Andrews and this is part of a three track EP produced in conjunction with fellow artist, Harry Diamond. It's due out now on one of the UK's more cutting-edge underground house labels. Watch out for EPs from Al Jay feat. Sarah Jayne 'Destiny', Miss Magic 'Grand Slam', TJ & Mitchell 'Everybody Dance'/'Channel' and Interflow's 'Feel The Music'.

07. Air Com 'Red Cloud (Amethyst Remix)'
Part of Mute Records, Future Groove originally released this last year and it got brilliant reactions from the likes of Brandon Block, Darren Stokes, Dave Seaman and of course, Dave Pearce. And even though tracks receiving more media attention successfully stole the limelight from 'Red Cloud', it refused to go away, remaining in DJ boxes for many months and gradually becoming an anthem for those in the know. Dave Pearce selects the Amethyst Remix here, which builds into a fat, chunky groove, before euphoric strings and stabs take the roof off. Mute, of course, is also home to major music artists like Luke Slater and Moby.

08. Plastic Angel 'Pascale'
A whopper! Get ready to be attacked by a monster riff that seems to come in from outta nowhere. Well respected in Germany, though if you think Plastic Angel are only capable of making dancefloor killers, then think again. Spot On will soon be releasing their follow-up, 'Mysterious Minds', which is on a much deeper tip. Due out in August, 'Pascale' features mixes from Dejure, that's Ian Bland (one half of Quake) and Paul Fitzpatrick (old hardcore legend Nipper). Spot On is, of course, Seb Fontaine's label. It's been going for eight years and releases quality music that crosses boundaries.

09. Floyd 'Come Together'
Split Recordings is part of Dave Pearce's stable and works on the same basis as the Positiva/Additive relationship: they find a great tune, press up a couple of thousand, and put it out on Split Recordings. If it's really popular, then it gets to be on Nu Life. So you lot have the chance to influence the music industry with your opinion on this. We're sure you'll agree that it's a hands-in-the-air biggie with no pretensions other than to give you a good time - a bit like Pearce's set, really. This EP is due out shortly and features a vocal version.

10. Agnelli & Nelson 'Embrace'
From Northern Ireland, this pair made their mark and sealed their reputation as providers of things both balearic and bangin' when they unleashed 'El Niño' and 'Everyday' onto an unsuspecting clubbing nation last year. 'Embrace' is a refreshing change from the rest of the tracks on the compilation because it's lighter yet extremely uplifting. Check the smooth, soft melody laced with a whirlwind of drumbeats that all merge into a state of perfect ecstacy halfway through the track. Also home to Chicane, Xtravaganza look set to have another biggie on their hands."
