CLUB CONCRETE
Active: 10.2004 - 08.2007 Genre: Hard House Format: 12" Vinyl Owners: Richard Andrews, Gabriel Ferrer A&R: Richard Andrews, James Thompson
Club Concrete was a regular after party event in London run by Gabriel Ferrer that delivered hours of intense, heavy duty hard house to clubbers who always craved a few hours more on the dance floor! In 2004, Club Concrete started a collaboration with Electronica Exposed to exclusively manage their record label which focussed on releasing music by their resident DJs RFO and Ren, as well as music by The Mexican and James Xavier, who were joint label managers. The initial releases were well received with Anne Savage championing Club Concrete, and she included RFO & James Xavier 'Floor Burner' and RFO & George E 'God Almighty' on her DJ mix on the Frantic Euphoria compilation album released on Ministry Of Sound. Club Concrete then fired out a series of massive releases such as The Mexican & James Xavier's 'Was It Something I Said?' and 'Beating Heart', and James Xavier's 'So Easy', before James Xavier left to pursue other interests. The Mexican then took sole control of running Club Concrete and brought in the biggest hard house producers to remix some of the key Club Concrete compositions which lead to Equinox and Alex Calver remixing RFO & James Xaiver 'Floor Burner' and The Mexican & James Xavier 'Waiting To Die' respectively. The Mexican then signed music by a new wave of producers including Traced, WMD (Alex Calver), System Addict, Jason Roberts and AC Slater and commissioned remixes by Defective Audio, Nik Denton and James Nardi & Julian Dwyer. All of these releases were highly regarded in hard house circles with compositions such as System Addict 'Take That', Traced & The Mexican v WMD 'Body Movin' and Traced & The Mexican 'Pulsating Sound (Defective Audio Remix)' becoming instant hard house classics! The first nine Club Concrete releases were distributed by Jedi / Jed-Eye Distribution, before the label switched to Toolbox Music who distributed all of the other releases. Unfortunately, Club Concrete closed in 2007 due to distribution issues, which ended its impressive run of releases. Club Concrete was supported by a who's who of hard house DJs including Anne Savage, Tom Harding, Guffy, Simon Eve, James Lawson, Ed Real, Olly Perris, Nik Denton, James Nardi and many more! All Club Concrete releases were pressed as limited edition vinyl editions and are out of print. The entire Club Concrete catalogue was released on CD and digital download on Electronica Exposed on: |
