Dusk Till Dawn DUSK TILL DAWN
Active: 10.2005 - 11.2007
Genre: Vocal Happy Hardcore
Format: 12" Vinyl
Owners: Richard Andrews, Gabriel Ferrer
A&R: Richard Andrews, James Thompson

Dusk Till Dawn originated in 2005 when Club Concrete decided to start a happy hardcore vinyl label to release the vocal compositions that Club Concrete artist James Xavier was writing under his Petrol Heads pseudonym. Like Club Concrete, Dusk Till Dawn was exclusively managed by Electronica Exposed with Shanty and Petrol Heads as joint label managers. Each release featured an original composition with a remix by an established happy hardcore producer. The first three releases were all by Petrol Heads and were huge successes with 'Prisoner', 'Sweet Surrender' and 'I'm Calling' receiving remixes by Cube::Hard, Sy & Unknown and Billy "Daniel" Bunter & CLSM respectively.

Dusk Till Dawn then decided to sign compositions by other artists and quickly snapped up The Acolyte Featuring Amy's 'Heal My Soul' and 'Draw To You', Sean Apollo, Fraud & Ionosphere Featuring Treasure 'Obsession' and Fracus Featuring Lisa Abbott 'Give Me Your Love', which received massive remixes from Kevin Energy, Cube::Hard, Hujib and DJ Stormtrooper respectively. Petrol Heads then returned to Dusk Till Dawn for 'Looking Out' and 'See 4 Eva', which were remixed by Orbit1 and Dusk Till Dawn favourite Cube::Hard, before the label concluded with Fracus & Orbit1 Featuring Lisa Abbott 'In Your Arms', which was remixed by Al Storm. All Dusk Till Dawn releases were distributed by Amato Distribution before Amato went into administration in November 2007, which effectively ended the label.

Happy hardcore released on Dusk Till Dawn was supported by many top tier happy hardcore DJs such as Kevin Energy, DJ Sy, Chris Unknown, Billy Bunter, CLSM, Brisk, Fracus, Darwin, Orbit1, Al Storm, Uraken and many more! Dusk Till Dawn also licensed music to the Hardcore Underground, Hardcore Underground 2, Hardcore Baby's Revenge - Mixed By DJ Yousuke, Hardcore Rave 2 - Mixed By Uraken and Crush On Hardcore 3 - A New Era compilation albums. Most of the compositions on the label were also included in Shanty's DJ mixes on all three volumes of Electronica Exposed's Hardcore Anthems compilation album series.

All Dusk Till Dawn releases were pressed as limited edition vinyl editions and are out of print. The entire Dusk Till Dawn catalogue was released on CD and digital download on Electronica Exposed on:

09.2005 - Review By HB In Upfront Magazine
"New label Dusk Till Dawn slams into the hardcore market with it's first release, a vocal anthem in the current big hardcore style. Big epic trance lead line coupled with a good stand out vocal and light piano line give this tune a great flow. Add to that the MC talents of MC Chit Chat and you have a winner of a tune! The flip features a remix by the ever busy Cube::Hard. Differing from the original in that this version is a pure breakbeat track turning into a 4/4 stomp fest towards the end. Tearing basslines, powerful breaks, epic lead line, the vocals and acid work give this remix spade loads of groove, you'll literally be digging this one out of the box more often than not!"

A. Petrol Heads Featuring Kate & Dee 'Sweet Surrender'
B. Petrol Heads Featuring Kate & Dee 'Sweet Surrender (Sy & Unknown Remix)'

12.2005 - Review By The Acolyte In M8 Magazine
"After remixing BK's 'Playing With Knives', the mysterious Petrol Heads hit us with a solid bit of vocal hardcore with not one, but two vocalists for the price of one on their new Dusk Till Dawn label. The vocals and pianos make an excellent combination that will pull at your emotions. The riff is catchy but not too simple adding just the right amount of energy without going over the top. On the flipside we have a bouncier remix by Quosh Records Sy & Unknown with vocoded vocal hooks and jumpy pianos - it's quite an interesting variation from the original, but by no means should be ignored. M6/M8."

11.2005 - Review By Brisk In IDJ Magazine
"Globetrotter DOK drops more hardcore euphoria this month on his own Dusk Till Dawn imprint. Banging beats provide a solid base upon which cool arpeggiated synths, gorgeous female vocals and epic, big room riffs are layered. Sy & Unknown deliver a stab-fuelled bouncy workout on the flip in the infamous Quosh style making this a highly sought after and dance floor friendly release. Solid. 4/5."

Dusk Till Dawn DTD003 - Front PETROL HEADS FEATURING MC CHIT CHAT 'I'M CALLING'
DTD003 | 1 x 12" Vinyl | 22.05.2006 | Happy Hardcore

A. Petrol Heads Featuring MC Chit Chat 'I'm Calling'
B. Petrol Heads Featuring MC Chit Chat 'I'm Calling (Billy "Daniel" Bunter & CLSM Remix)'

03.2006 - Review By HB In Upfront Magazine
"Following hot on the heels of the last release 'Sweet Surrender', Petrol Heads return with another barn stormer titled 'I'm Calling'. Two versions on this release with the original on the A side and a Billy "Daniel" Bunter & CLSM remix on the B. The original is catchy with tough, punchy percussion alongside Chit Chat's sampled MCing and throbbing off beat bass lead you into a unique piano line and female vocal breakdown. The lead line is catchy and of a trance nature and it complements the warm vocal superbly. The remix over on the reverse features trademark filtered percussion alongside a meaty off stab and good use of Chit Chat's vocals once again. The lead line is typical CLSM in style, powerful yet ravey at the same time. As well as the female vocals the tune stands out with its hands in the air piano breakdown. A good solid remix completing another strong release for Dusk Till Dawn!"

Dusk Till Dawn DTD004 - Front THE ACOLYTE FEATURING AMY 'HEAL MY SOUL'
DTD004 | 1 x 12" Vinyl | 28.08.2006 | Happy Hardcore

A. The Acolyte Featuring Amy 'Heal My Soul'
B. The Acolyte Featuring Amy 'Heal My Soul (Kevin Energy Remix)'

07-08.2006 - Review By Allan McGrath In ATM Magazine
"Rising Australian talent The Acolyte steps up for Dusk Till Dawn's fourth release, aided by the soft if slightly saccharine vocals of Amy who featured on his classy breakthrough anthem 'Lost Without You' on Ozzie imprint Executive. No faulting the production here with bubbling basslines, pacey bleeps and a sweeping breakdown that sets the atmosphere with heart-tugging pianos and Amy's soaring vocals. The lead riff then flies in with almost Raver Baby styled euphoria levels but that's part of this track's problem. It's simply nothing we haven't already heard before. Thankfully, the remix is far from tired as Kevin Energy gets to work creating busy bass grooves, head-twisitng filter sonics and a bouncy almost hard dance styled stab melody. Again, action focuses on a huge breakdown but this time things unfold with a little more thought as crescendos of increasingly euphoric melody wrap themselves around the vocal before the killer punch of Kevin's infectious lead line hits the spot. Not your average Kevin Energy remix but, then, there's always been more than meets the ear as far as the Nu Energy founder is concerned. Well worth checking for remix alone. Rating: Silver."

Dusk Till Dawn DTD005 - Front THE ACOLYTE FEATURING AMY 'DRAW TO YOU'
DTD005 | 1 x 12" Vinyl | 13.11.2006 | Happy Hardcore

A. The Acolyte Featuring Amy 'Draw To You'
B. The Acolyte Featuring Amy 'Draw To You (Cube::Hard Remix)'

09.2006 - Review By Sarah Wiles In IDJ Magazine
"The Acolyte's latest is a trancey vocal piece that isn't instantly memorable as the female vocal is very weak. The main piano line is energetic but the overstretched, light vocal doesn't compliment it very well - it needs more power to compliment the strong riff. Cube::Hard's uplifting rework gives it much more depth and a fuller sound, allowing the vocal to come to the forefront of the track - much tighter but still a bit of a blip on the horizon. 2/5."

09.2006 - Review By Allan McGrath In ATM Magazine
"Dusk Till Dawn keeps up the pressure with another effort from Australian talent The Acolyte and his female vocalist Amy. Tight bouncy percussion, cheeky edits and some choice vocal samples lead us into a rushing, spine-tingling '96 style piano and a classy vocal that leaves the cheese factor at the door. Sadly, the track never fully capitalises on the retro-ecstasy of the piano crecendos, instead leading into a slightly generic trance lead. Cube::Hard's remix adds a forgiving gloss and serves as another firm reminder of his undoubted talents: his paced up, groove-filled bass rhythms and two mega-musical breakdowns adding the padding to rising waves of musical melody."

Dusk Till Dawn DTD007 - Front FRACUS FEATURING LISA ABBOTT 'GIVE ME YOUR LOVE'
DTD007 | 1 x 12" Vinyl | 04.06.2007 | Happy Hardcore

A. Fracus Featuring Lisa Abbott 'Give Me Your Love'
B. Fracus Featuring Lisa Abbott 'Give Me Your Love (DJ Stormtrooper Remix)'

11.2006 - Review By Allan McGrath In ATM Magazine
"Dusk Till Dawn has really started to find its feet lately and again delivers a serving of euphoric main floor hardcore, plus a big name remix with this soaring vocal track from Fracus. A true legend in hardcore, Lisa Abbott is put to good use with her searching tones being placed over a bouncy groove, clever piano edits and a warping synth. On the breakdown, Fracus introduces some cascading classic rave pianos before an ultra-modern riff flies in unexpectedly and sends the track into new dimensions. On the flip, Stormtrooper beefs things up considerably, but keeps the essential rave parts intact, arguably eclipsing the original, but only just."
