MOTION
Active: 05.2004 - 10.2006 Genre: Trance Format: 12" Vinyl Owner: Andy Dennett, Mark Lowes, Chris Trevethan, Richard Andrews (MOTN005), Gabriel Ferrer (MOTN005) A&R: Andy Dennett, Mark Lowes, Chris Trevethan
Motion was formed in 2003 by friends Andy Dennett, Mark Lowes and Chris Trevethan with the aim of signing the finest trance music by up and coming producers and releasing them on vinyl with remixes by established producers. The trio quickly pressed a limited edition test press vinyl release of Imbudo 'Novaja' backed with a remix by Rusch & Murray, but due to a number of reasons the vinyl never received a full release. Motion then signed 'Mr Blue' by Usual Suspect and commissioned a massive remix by The Thrillseekers, which was licensed to the Scott Bond - Ahead, A Trip In Trance 3 and The Thrillseekers - Nightmusic Volume 1 compilation albums. MOTN001 was a phenomenal success and set the high standard that Motion would constantly attain on its subsequent releases. Motion went from strength to strength with its next three vinyl releases. Echano's 'Nothing To Live For' was remixed by Gareth Emery and was licensed to the A Trip In Trance 3 compilation album, Mike Shiver Presents Madeira's 'Solaris' was remixed by Anjunabeats artist Smith & Pledger and was licensed to the Alex M.O.R.P.H. DJ mix on Trance Nation 20 and DJ Koris - Pure Power Volume 2 compilation albums, and Locust's 'Aerospace' was remixed by Probspot and was licensed to the Gareth Emery DJ mix on the Five AM Sessions Volume 1 and the Armin van Buuren – A State Of Trance 2005 compilation albums. By 2006, Motion had signed a series of incredible releases and entered into a collaboration with Electronica Exposed to exclusively manage all future Motion releases. Unfortunately, this collaboration was short lived as Tuned Distribution Ltd. who distributed Motion and Slow Motion closed without paying for the sales on SMOTN001. This meant that MOTN005 was distributed directly by Electronica Exposed, but this was unsustainable and Motion could not secure a suitable distribution agreement with any other company. However, MOTN005 was an absolutely massive release that featured Gareth Emery & Mike Dedross Present Wirefly 'The Verdict' with a banging remix by Octagen and was licensed to the Talla 2XLC - Techno Club Next compilation album. The management of Motion and Slow Motion was then returned completely to Andy Dennett, Mark Lowes and Chris Trevethan who continued to release amazing music on CD and digital download by Dréas, Mike Perry, Greg Downey, Octagen, Hydroid, T4L, Vadim Soloviev, Marcie, Genix, Mike Foyle, Ketho Featuring Michael Calderone, Yamin, Airtight, Andy Duguid, Alex Robert, Ken Ya & Fast Distance, Danilo Ercole, TyDi, Element One and Heatbeat on Motion, and Marris, JPL, Thomas Penton and Funabashi on Slow Motion! Motion closed in 2009. |
